Where to Buy Bacteriostatic Water for Injection
Bacteriostatic water for injection is sold in the US by pharmacies, at the counter, and by specialist online sellers that ship sealed vials direct. These are the best-known online sellers, what each one offers, and what to know about the “reconstitution solution” sold by peptide suppliers.
The best-known online sellers are Bacteriostatic Water Store, eBac Water and Bacteriostatic Water Supplies; BacteriostaticWater.com, long one of the largest, has been offline since late September 2026. Many peptide suppliers also sell bacteriostatic water under the name “reconstitution solution”. In person, CVS, Walgreens and Walmart Pharmacy dispense it at the counter, usually against a prescription.

BacteriostaticWater.com (currently offline)
Not taking ordersFor years one of the largest and best-known online sources of bacteriostatic water. Since late September 2026 the site has shown only a password page, reading “Coming soon” on 11 October 2026, and it takes no orders. It is included so that former customers know where it stands; this list will be updated if it reopens. Checked 11 October 2026.
Peptide suppliers and “reconstitution solution”
Many online peptide suppliers sell a diluent alongside their peptides, often called “reconstitution solution” rather than bacteriostatic water. The name describes a job, dissolving a powder, not a formula, so what is in the vial depends on the supplier:
- Usually it is bacteriostatic water: sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol, sold in multiple-dose vials.
- Sometimes it is sterile water with no preservative, which is single-dose, or a different diluent such as dilute acetic acid, which some suppliers name for peptides that dissolve poorly in water.
The ingredient line settles it. A “reconstitution solution” that lists 0.9% benzyl alcohol is bacteriostatic water under another name; one that lists no preservative is sterile water. See sterile water for injection vs bacteriostatic water.
Pharmacies
Bacteriostatic water for injection is labelled “Rx only”, so CVS, Walgreens and Walmart Pharmacy dispense it at the counter rather than on the shelf, usually against a prescription, and often order it in. On 8 October 2026 a 30 mL vial’s average retail cash price was $23.76 on GoodRx and $28.79 on Rx.com. Amazon returned no bacteriostatic water listings when searched the same day. Each retailer is covered in bacteriostatic water at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart and Amazon.
What to check before buying
- The ingredient line. Bacteriostatic water lists benzyl alcohol (0.9%, or 1.1% on one Hospira glass vial). If it does not, it is sterile water.
- A sealed vial with a lot number and expiry date. Listings sold as “empty vials” carry neither.
- The size you will use. An opened multiple-dose vial is given 28 days under USP <797>, so a 30 mL vial suits frequent use and 3 or 10 mL vials suit occasional use.
- Hospira or generic. Hospira is the branded product made by Hospira, Inc., a Pfizer company; generic vials contain the same 0.9% benzyl alcohol.
- Not humidifier “bacteriostatic water treatment”, which shares the name and nothing else.
