Bacteriostatic Water
for Injection
A label-based reference

About

About this reference

What this site covers, where its facts come from, and what it does not cover.

What it covers

This site is a plain-language reference to Bacteriostatic Water for Injection, USP: what the product contains, how it differs from sterile water for injection and from bacteriostatic saline, how pharmacies handle it, and where it is sold.

Where the facts come from

Product facts are taken from the FDA-listed labels published on DailyMed, the National Library of Medicine’s database of drug labeling, and are quoted wherever the exact wording matters. Each page links the labels it uses and states the date it was last checked against them. Standards outside the labels, such as the 28-day figure for opened multiple-dose vials, are attributed to their source (USP General Chapter <797> and CDC guidance) rather than presented as label content.

Retail and supplier details, such as what a store sells or how it ships, are taken from that business’s own website or from price-comparison sites, and are dated.

What it does not cover

This site does not give dosing, injection technique or medical advice, and nothing on it replaces the label of the specific product in hand or the instructions of a prescriber or pharmacist. Where a page describes what a label says, the label itself is the controlling source.

Updates and corrections

Pages are re-checked against the current labels and retailer sites each month. Labels are revised from time to time; the revision date on DailyMed shows which version is current.
